Description: We are seeking a dedicated pediatric RN to join our float pool. Under general supervision, you will provide nursing care to a variety of patients with health issues ranging from simple to complex. Essential responsibilities include assuming responsibility for an assigned group of patients, documenting patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, assisting physicians during patient examinations and minor procedures, and obtaining and monitoring physiological data. You will also administer medication, initiate and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products, deliver competent patient care, and interact with patients and families to share care plans and inform them of procedures. Referring patient care needs to appropriate personnel and delegating tasks to support staff are also key responsibilities. You'll float to several acute care units, including our Pediatric Medical Unit, Pediatric Surgical Unit, Pediatric Medical Specialty Unit, and occasionally the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Unit.
Qualifications include knowledge of professional nursing theory and techniques, ability to organize and evaluate nursing services, strong communication skills, and the ability to effectively respond to cultural and language needs of patients. An associate's degree in nursing is required, with a preference for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
