Job Description Job Title: Registered Nurse - Pediatrics Float Pool Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: 1 Year Required License: Current RN License Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Must-Have: Pediatric patient care experience
Description: Under general supervision, provide nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Essential responsibilities include assuming responsibility for an assigned group of patients, documenting patient responses to nursing interventions, and noting changes in physician orders. Assist physicians in examining patients and performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary. Administer medication, initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products. Deliver competent patient care and interact with family and patient to share care plans during hospital stay and discharge. Inform patients and families of hospital procedures and make referrals regarding patient care needs. Delegate tasks to support staff and perform other duties as assigned. Float to all acute care units, including Pediatric Medical Unit, Pediatric Surgical Unit, and occasionally Pediatric Hem/Onc Unit.
Skills: - Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures - Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services - Maintain good working relationships with other employees - Good verbal and written communication skills - Respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors - Some computer skills
Education: - Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program - Preferred: Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing
