Job Description Job Title: Registered Nurse - Pediatrics Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Current RN License Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Must-Have: CV step down experience
Description: Under general supervision, this position provides nursing care in a hospital setting to a variety of pediatric patients with health conditions ranging from simple to complex.
Essential Responsibilities: - Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients. - Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. - Assist physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures. - Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary. - Administer medication as prescribed; initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products. - Deliver competent patient care. - Interact with family and patient to discuss care plans during hospital stay and discharge. - Inform patients and families of hospital procedures. - Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. - Delegate tasks to support staff.
General Responsibilities: - Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills Required: - Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures. - Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services. - Maintain good working relationships with other employees. - Good verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. - Basic computer skills.
Education: - Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. - Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Schedule Notes: - Float to all acute care units, including Pediatric Medical Unit, Pediatric Surgical Unit, Pediatric Medical Specialty, and occasionally Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit. - Weekend and holiday shifts are required.
