Job Description Job Title: Registered Nurse - Float Pool Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year License: Current RN License Certifications: Basic Life Support, PALS (Preferred: APHON Certification) Must-Have: Pediatric Experience
Description: Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse provides nursing care in a hospital setting to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
Essential Responsibilities: - Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients. - Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. - Assist physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. - Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe the physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary. - Administer medication as prescribed. Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products. - Deliver patient care competently. - Interact with family and patient in sharing the care plan while in the hospital and at discharge. - Inform patient and family of hospital procedures. - Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. - Delegate tasks to support staff.
General Responsibilities: - Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience: - Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures. - Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques. - Maintain good working relationships with other employees. - Good verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. - Some computer skills.
Required Education: - Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Preferred Education: - Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program.
Languages: - English Proficiency (Read, Write, Speak).
