Job Description Job Title: Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Unit

Hours per Shift: 36 hours/week

Experience: Must have cardiac unit with step-down experience; minimum one-year experience

License: Current RN License issued by a recognized State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC)

Certifications: Current Basic Life Support and ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Must-Have: Ability to interpret EKG, monitor rhythms and rates, collaborate with cardiac rehab, education, and discharge planning

Description: Under general supervision, this position provides nursing care in a hospital setting to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Key responsibilities include: - Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. - Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments and notes all changes in physician orders. - Assists physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. - Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations, and intervenes when necessary. - Administers medication as prescribed and manages intravenous infusions and blood products. - Delivers patient care competently and interacts with family and patient to share care plans both during the hospital stay and at discharge. - Informs patients and families of hospital procedures and makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. - Delegates tasks to support staff effectively.

General Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned. The unit is a mixed cardiovascular floor with step-down and Med-Surg beds. Responsibilities may include collaboration with cardiac rehabilitation, education, and discharge planning. Strong knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, and techniques is required, along with good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is essential. Some computer skills are necessary.

Education: Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Preferred: Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing from a Board Approved Program.
