Job Description Job Title: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years License: Current RN License, state board or multistate compact Certifications: - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) upon hire - ACLS (American Heart Association) within 12 months - Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 12 months - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Advance Provider or Instructor within 3 months

Must-Have: - Ability to independently circulate surgeries - PACU skills - Magnesium therapy - Insulin drips - Independent in newborn care, including initial resuscitation and routine care

Description: Under general supervision, the Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides nursing care in a hospital setting to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. The RN assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients, documenting patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments while noting any changes in physician orders. They assist physicians in examining patients and performing minor diagnostic procedures. Obtaining and monitoring physiological data, observing patient manifestations, and intervening when necessary, administering medications, and managing intravenous infusions and blood products are key responsibilities. The RN interacts with patients and families, sharing care plans during hospital stays and at discharge, and informs them of hospital procedures. The position involves making referrals to appropriate personnel, delegating tasks to support staff, and performing other duties as assigned. Proficiency in professional nursing theory, practice, and techniques is essential, along with the ability to organize and coordinate nursing services. Good communication skills and the ability to respond to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors are also required. A minimum of an associate's degree in nursing is required, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
