Job Description Job Title: RN Labor and Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: FS Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours (Guaranteed 36 hours per week) Experience: 2 years experience required License: Current RN License required Certifications: Basic Life Support (American Heart Association), ACLS (within 12 months of hire), Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (within 12 months of hire), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Advance Provider or Instructor (within 3 months of hire) Must-Have: Ability to independently circulate surgeries, PACU skills, competence in magnesium therapy, insulin drips, and newborn care (initial resuscitation, routine care); minimum of an associate degree in nursing
Description: Under general supervision, the RN provides nursing care in a hospital to patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Essential responsibilities include assuming responsibility for an assigned group of patients, documenting patient responses to nursing interventions, noting changes in physician orders, assisting physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures, and monitoring physiological data. The RN is also responsible for administering medications, regulating intravenous infusions and blood products, delivering patient care, interacting with family members regarding care plans, informing patients and families of hospital procedures, making appropriate referrals, and delegating tasks to support staff. Additional skills required include knowledge of professional nursing theory and techniques, ability to plan and evaluate nursing services, and strong communication skills.
