Job Description Job Title: Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Unit

Certifications: Basic Life Support, ACLS
Must-Have: Cardiac unit with step down experience, EKG interpretation skills
Description: Under general supervision, provide nursing care in a hospital setting to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Essential responsibilities include assuming responsibility for an assigned group of patients, documenting patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician order on assigned patients, and assisting physicians in the examination of patients and performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary. Administer medication as prescribed, initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products, and deliver patient care competently. Interact with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge. Involve patients and family members by informing them about hospital procedures and making referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegate tasks to support staff. Additionally, may be asked to interpret EKG, manage rhythms and rates, and collaborate with Cardiac rehab, education, and discharge planning. Must have knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures, effective organizational, planning, coordination, and evaluation skills, and the ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with responsiveness to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills are necessary.
