Job Description Job Title: Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours (3 shifts weekly) Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Current RN License Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Must-Have: Cardiac experience for a 10-bed cardiac stepdown unit
Description: Under general supervision, this Registered Nurse provides nursing care in a hospital setting to patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. The nurse assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients and documents their responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Duties include assisting physicians during examinations and minor diagnostic procedures, obtaining and monitoring physiological data of patients, administering medications and initiating, regulating, and monitoring intravenous infusions and blood products. The nurse interacts with patients and their families to share the care plan while in the hospital and at the time of discharge, informs them of hospital procedures, and makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Additionally, the role involves delegating tasks to support staff and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience: - Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures. - Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques. - Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees. - Good verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. - Basic computer skills.
Education: - Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. - Preferred: Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing.
Languages: English proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing is required.
