Senior Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney
We are looking for an experienced Senior Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join our premier defense law firm, specializing in workers’ compensation, employment law, general liability, and more. In this role, you will manage the legal defense of workers' compensation cases from inception to final resolution, work closely with insurance companies, employers, and third-party administrators, and contribute to our culture of excellence and continuous improvement. This position offers the flexibility of remote work along with a comprehensive benefits package.
Salary:
$120,000.00 - $210,000.00 per year Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Advocate on behalf of insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured employers Prepare and manage correspondence to clients, ensuring clarity and professionalism Draft pleadings and engage in negotiations for settlements on workers' compensation files Regularly attend court appearances, manage legal calendar, and conduct depositions and cross-examinations of medical professionals and other expert witnesses Strategically negotiate lien claims and perform proactive case management to minimize liability Provide mentorship to legal assistants to ensure high standards of case support and documentation Develop and maintain robust professional relationships with clients, coworkers, and vendors Actively participate in marketing initiatives and networking events to foster new and existing client relationships Handle case documentation and data entry into PracticeMaster and billing software, ensuring data integrity and compliance with timelines Conduct training seminars to inform clients about the latest developments in workers' compensation case law Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in workers' compensation law and use this information to better serve the clients Minimum Position Qualifications: Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school License to practice law in California (CA Bar) - Required Minimum 4 years of experience in workers' compensation law, whether from plaintiff or defense side Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and cases Strong analytical skills and proficiency in legal research Preferred Qualifications: Residency in Fresno, CA preferred but not necessary Prior experience working directly with insurance companies and self-insured employers Experience in mentoring or supervising junior staff or legal assistants Proven track record in negotiating and resolving complex legal issues Active participation in legal associations or continuous legal education Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities Strong negotiation skills Effective time management Critical thinking and problem-solving capacity Detailed oriented with a rigorous approach to case handling Benefits: Competitive Salary with Quarterly Bonus Opportunities Unlimited Paid Time Off (UPTO) for Attorneys Comprehensive health benefits (Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance) 401(k) Plan with Employer Matching after 1-year Professional growth opportunities including Continuous Training/Learning and an Accelerated Partnership Track Remote Work Flexibility
