Position Type: Regular Full Time Pay Range: $53,125 - $65,000/EXEMPT About this opportunity: Coordinates, plans, develops, and supports the Divisions' Preparedness efforts for Emergency Disaster Services. Supports local units with the preparedness activities of training; volunteer recruitment, engagement, retention, and management; and reviewing of preparedness plans and procedures for all aspects of preparedness. Schedules and directs all training with an emphasis on disaster preparedness and response. Key responsibilities: Training Responsibilities (40%) Other Responsibilities (20%) What we are looking for in you: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, social services, emergency management with an additional 2 years of experience in Emergency Management, personnel management, or communications or Four years progressively responsible experience, at the project or agency level, specializing in Emergency Management, Disaster Services, Social Services, Human Services and/or Volunteer Management, Classroom Instruction and Training or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Valid State Drivers License Certified EDS Instructor (or ability to complete the Train the Trainer course within a required timeframe). Certified First Aid, CPR and AED Instructor (or ability to complete the Train the Trainer course within a required timeframe). AEM/CEM Certification (or ability to complete within a required timeframe). Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively and clearly. Ability to independently travel to various locations to participate in public meetings, conferences, etc. Ability to conduct presentations and training sessions. Ability to work in difficult and demanding disaster settings/locations. Ability to remain open, sensitive, and responsive to volunteers from diverse cultures without discrimination. Ability to serve as a Christ-like example and to demonstrate compassion to all people. Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints. Duties may be performed while seated but may require extended periods of time standing and/or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying medium weight objects (approximately 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Typically, work is performed in an office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like but not limited to an office environment. However, work can require independent travel both within the state of Texas and throughout the country to conduct training and presentations, and deployment for disaster events where there may be physical discomforts associated with driving a vehicle, traveling by airplane, weather changes, staying overnight in a hotel and/or base camp situations.
