This is a short-term position with a projected end date of June 30, 2025. Based on funding, position may be extended.
The Technology Support Specialist Sr. provides advanced technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for computer systems and software applications. In this role, they are responsible for diagnosing complex issues, implementing effective solutions, and ensuring all technology systems operate smoothly. This position requires collaboration with crossfunctional teams to support end-users, manage IT assets, and oversee security protocols.
Additionally, the Senior Technology Support Specialist mentors tier-1 staff, creates technical documentation, and participates in IT project planning and execution to enhance organizational efficiency. The Senior Specialist stays updated on the latest technology trends and recommends upgrades to improve system performance.
Essential Functions
30% - Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for technical issues related to hardware, software, and network systems. Diagnose, resolve, and document complex technical issues escalated from lower support levels. Manage and maintain various technology systems, including workstations, printers, mobile devices, and specialized software. Install, configure, and update software and ensure compliance with security and institutional policies.
20% - Lead or participate in technology-related projects, ensuring timelines and resources are managed effectively. Collaborate on designing and implementing new solutions or updates to meet the organization's changing needs.
20% - Create and maintain detailed documentation of processes, solutions, and procedures to assist in training new staff and ensuring consistent support. Track and report technology issues, trends, and system performance to inform decision-making.
10%-Work closely with IT and AV teams to coordinate support, especially for cross-functional projects. Assist in planning and executing upgrades or technology rollouts. Act as a liaison between departments to align technology solutions with user needs.
10% - Track and manage technology assets, ensuring updated and accurate inventory. Coordinate equipment orders, disposal, or redeployment as necessary.
10% - Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and four years of technical experience in an area directly related to assignment.
There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.
OR
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree, education, certification and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
1. Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues related to hardware, software, networking, enterprise applications, and operating systems.
2. Proficiency in scripting languages to automate routine technology support tasks, enhance system efficiency, and troubleshoot advanced technical issues. Demonstrated ability to develop, test, and deploy scripts to support a desktop fleet.
3. Experience planning and executing IT projects, such as hardware rollouts, software deployments, and upgrades, with attention to asset allocation and inventory management.
4. Demonstrated expertise in managing IT asset inventories, including tracking, auditing, and maintaining accurate records of hardware and software assets.
5. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to document procedures, create technical guides, and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
6. Proven ability to lead and mentor junior team members, fostering skill development, knowledge sharing, and team collaboration.

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.); moderate exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people); and moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, movement restrictions or intense noise.
May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor.
Climbing stairs and/or ladders to reach assigned areas along with working at heights.
