The Division of Workforce Solutions is currently working a Hybrid (onsite/offsite) Teleworking schedule.
The is the state's lead agency for economic, community, and workforce development. The Department works with local, regional, national and international organizations to fulfill its mission to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for all North Carolinians. The mission of the is to develop North Carolina's workforce talent, help individuals advance their career opportunities, and meet business workforce needs by connecting talent to jobs. The DWS is responsible for administering federal workforce programs that help individuals gain skills and find employment, and help businesses find the workforce they need to be successful. Across the state, there are 80+ career centers which support individuals finding work and pursuing education and training and connect businesses with the well-trained, diverse talent they need. The centers are customer-centric, designed to meet the needs of customers, individuals and businesses.
The Planning and Policy Development section is responsible for grants management with local Workforce Development Boards and other grantees, to include the submission and approval of local area plans, effective and efficient use of financial and program resources, and connection to federal funding agencies.
The Grants Program Assistant will serve as program administrative support for the Planning and Accountability Units, to include the Special Grants staff. The Grants Program Assistant will communicate, as needed, with the NCWorks workforce development system consisting of 20 workforce development boards and key stakeholders including the Community College System, and other participating non-profit agencies by maintaining effective working relationships. The Grants Program Assistant must have the ability to plan, organize, and direct his/her own work in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
