Job Overview: A law firm seeks a skilled Environmental and Land Use Associate Attorney to join its Los Angeles office. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in environmental and land use law and strong capabilities in legal research, drafting, and client counseling.
Job Duties:
- Conduct legal research and analysis on environmental and land use regulations.
- Draft legal memoranda, briefs, motions, and other pleadings.
- Assist in preparing for hearings, trials, and other litigation proceedings.
- Counsel clients on federal, state, and local environmental laws compliance.
- Participate in negotiations and settlement discussions on behalf of clients.
- Provide support to senior attorneys on complex environmental litigation matters.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the California State Bar in good standing.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in environmental and land use law.
- Experience with drafting briefs, motions, and legal memoranda.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior judicial clerkship experience in environmental or related fields.
- Familiarity with CEQA, NEPA, and other environmental statutes and regulations.
- Experience advising clients on land use planning and zoning issues.
Skills:
- Legal research and writing.
- Litigation and courtroom experience.
- Client counseling and negotiation.
