Overview

Our San Diego Corporate office is looking to add a Construction Accounting Specialist to our team. This person will provide meticulous and thorough accounting and helpful administrative support in a fast-paced construction office environment. The candidate should have a thorough understanding of construction accounting, be able to communicate confidently and effectively with management, clients and external third-party accountants, and handle other various tasks to ensure smooth financial operations.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day responsibilities:
  • Assist the Accounting Manager in high-level accounting functions
  • Review project contracts to understand billing schedules and terms
  • Ensure proper CSI coding of invoices and expenses to prepare and submit accurate T+M Owner billings and their corresponding AIA Progress Billing, along with collecting and verifying supporting documentation as backup
  • Apply AR payments to the correct accounts and projects in the accounting system and prepare AR Aging Reports for Management
  • Coordinate with the Project Management teams to ensure timely approval of invoices
  • Use critical thinking to reconcile billings with project budgets and cost-tracking
  • Assist in the oversight of Payroll Accounting
  • Assist in the oversight of Credit Card reconciliations
  • Assist in maintaining lien releases and other compliance documents
  • Assist in implementing and improving accounting systems and procedures
  • Act as an integral part of the Business Operations team to help integrate the Hill Construction culture, values, processes, and procedures


Salary Description

$65,000 / year + DOE

Requirements

Requirements/Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of construction accounting experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Solid planning and organizational skills
  • Professional presentation and desire to become an integral part of the HCC team
  • Skills and proficiencies needed:
    • Exceptional attention to detail to catch errors in complex billings or reconciliations
    • Proficiency in construction accounting software like Procore, Sage 100, and Levelset
    • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines across projects
    • Effective communication with internal teams (project managers, executives) and external clients
    • Takes ownership of work and meets demanding deadlines
  • The candidate must be a great team player and possess Hill Construction's core values: passion for excellence, integrity, and hard work
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods, walk job sites with ease, and bend/stoop as needed
  • Ability to lift or maneuver boxes without accommodation


Salary Description
