The Role: Lateral Associate - Real Estate | New York, NY

We are seeking mid-level and senior Real Estate Associates to join a prominent and expanding team in New York, NY. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile real estate transactions, collaborate with industry-leading professionals, and grow within a supportive and innovative environment.

Practice Expertise and Focus

This team is renowned for delivering innovative solutions across the real estate spectrum. Key focus areas include:

  • Mortgage/Mezzanine Debt: Representing lenders and borrowers in structuring and negotiating complex financing arrangements.
  • Joint-Venture Equity Work: Advising on partnerships and equity structures for real estate investments and developments.
  • Acquisitions and Dispositions: Guiding clients through the purchase, sale, and restructuring of major real estate assets.
  • Development Projects: Handling regulatory and contractual aspects of real estate development, including land use, zoning, and permitting.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Transactions: Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
In this position, you will:
  • Represent clients in mortgage and mezzanine debt transactions on both the lender and borrower side.
  • Advise on joint-venture equity structures, acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex real estate agreements.
  • Develop innovative strategies for navigating intricate real estate transactions.
  • Contribute to mentoring junior associates and fostering a positive, collaborative team culture.
Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates who bring the following qualifications and attributes:
Experience and Expertise
  • Experience Level: Mid-level or senior associate with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Mortgage/mezzanine debt transactions.
    • Joint-venture equity work.
    • Acquisitions and dispositions.
    • Development projects.
  • Non-Real Estate Backgrounds: Strong transactional experience in other areas with a demonstrated interest in transitioning to real estate will also be considered.
Educational Credentials
  • Juris Doctor (JD): Degree from a top-tier, accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • Bar Admission: Active membership in good standing or eligibility to waive into the New York Bar.
