Summary/Objective:

The Quality Control Technician reports directly to the QC Supervisor and the Food Safety/QA Mgr. In this position, the duties of responsibilities are continuously monitoring and enforcing controls relative to the food manufacturing process, with a strong focus on hygiene and sanitation. In addition, ensure efficient and effective operational functionality of products by performing several quality control analytical processes; including, but not limited to:

  • Following up on product quality by conducting inspection rounds.
  • Ensuring that employees adhere to manufacturing, hygiene, and sanitation standards (GMPs) in all departments.
  • Supporting production staff in problem-solving efforts.
  • Calibrating, measuring, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Support SQF guidelines and HARPC analyses (*SQF training, if necessary, will be provided to right candidate).
  • Review, monitor, and enforced SQF* and Food Safety Pre-requisite programs.
Essential Functions:
  • Be a consistent presence in the assigned production area(s); conducting visual inspections for GMPs violations in each department.
  • Required to stand and walk, for long periods throughout the day (95% floor - 5% computer). Collect, label, log, bag, and organize samples to be sent to lab and verify all orders being sent. Organize daily testing so that the release of the product is done correctly.
  • Check and release product(s) from the hold list when the product is being shipped.
  • Maintain all SQF and Food Safety standards for facility and employees (*SQF training, if necessary, will be provided to the right candidate)
  • Process Improvement, Analyzing Information, and Strategic Planning.
  • Adhere and follow ALL Corporate Guidelines and Code of Conduct (Employee Handbook).
  • Other duties assigned as needed.
Skills:
  • Must be able to work 5am - 3pm M-F
  • A full understanding, and grasp, of GMPs and Food Safety.
  • A full understanding, and grasp, of the SQF scheme's guidelines and its requirements, as well as regulatory agencies (FDA, NJ Dpt. of Health, etc.) food safety requirements (*SQF training, if necessary, will be provided to the right candidate)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and web browsing (Chrome, Edge, etc). Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal; and be a proven leader with a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and comprehend weights, measurements, and mathematical equations.
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs.
  • Able to effectively understand and adhere to a variety of guidelines and work procedures, including health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation; along with prioritizing and organizing workload.
