Stormwater Modeling Mid-Level Engineer

The primary duties of the Stormwater Modeling Mid-Level Engineer include working under the direction of a principal engineer on planning and design projects. Depending on the applicant’s qualifications, work duties may also support our other research and compliance practices. The Modeling Mid-Level Engineer is expected to work independently as well as plan, organize, and assist other staff, including mentoring junior staff. Essential Duties and Primary Responsibilities

Be a self-starter and driven to solve problems. Have good writing, presentation, and speaking skills, as the position may involve presenting at public events. Develop, validate, and conduct hydraulics and hydrology models for stormwater conveyance systems and facilities. Evaluate modeling results to identify problem areas, develop alternatives to resolve problem areas, and develop conceptual designs. Conduct site visits and inspections and collect field data. Install, operate, and maintain monitoring equipment. Delegate, mentor, and review junior staff’s work. Develop technical reports and graphics to illustrate modeling results, and assist with the development of proposals. Assist with project management duties, including developing and managing project schedules and budgets. Coordinate with clients and teaming partners. Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience working on stormwater or water resource modeling projects. Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering. Professional Engineer License (PE) in Washington State or the ability to obtain a license in Washington State within six months of being hired. Experience creating, updating, and reviewing hydraulic and hydrologic models. Washington State or North Idaho resident or the ability to become a resident within one year of being hired. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering. Experience with Washington State Phase I and Phase II NPDES MS4 Permits, Washington State Department of Ecology stormwater design manuals, and Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Design Manuals, including the Highway Runoff Manual (HRM) and Hydraulics Manual (HM). Experience with SWMM, MGSFlood, WWHM, StormShed, ArcGIS/QGIS, and AutoCAD. Ability to work on a team and independently in a remote setting on multiple projects.
