Summary
Joining the Secret Service, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Customer Solutions Branch will allow you to draw on your technological expertise to maintain and modernize the U.S. Secret Service's IT and communications infrastructure, as well as enhance interoperability, information sharing, and collaboration capabilities.
Duties
The selectee will serve as an Information Technology Specialist in the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Customer Solutions Branch. Typical work assignments include:
Resolve all activities related to the acquisition, configuration, installation, and maintenance of PCs and other end user computing devices.
Apply proper security practices, procedures, and techniques to ensure the security posture of the PC-based end-point systems.
Modify, update, and maintain active directory/domain structure in response to customer service requests and end-point incident remediation.
Provide a wide variety of computer-related problem resolution assistance to the user community.
Requirements
Conditions of Employment
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
Obtain and maintain a top-secret Tier 5 clearance.
Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
Submit to a CI polygraph examination prior to your appointment.
Direct deposit of pay is required.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
Basic Individual Occupational Requirement:
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience which demonstrates each of the four competencies:
Attention to Detail:
Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service:
Works with clients and customers to assess their needs and resolve their problems.
Oral Communication:
Effectively expresses information to individuals or groups.
Problem Solving:
Identifies problems and uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
You qualify for the GS-11 level if you possess one of the following:
Experience providing virtual assistance, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and technical training pertaining to personal computers.
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
You qualify for the GS-12 level if you possess one of the following:
Experience integrating security protocols and risk management considerations throughout the IT system life cycle.
Time-in-Grade Requirements:
Must meet "time-in-grade" requirements.
Qualifications Must Be Met:
The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience. For this job at the GS12 level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone.
