Position Description

ABOUT THE COURT
Los Angeles Superior Court is the largest unified trial court in the United States. Its 580 judges and commissioners work in one of the 36 facilities within the Court's 12 judicial districts and are supported by more than 4,800 full-time Court employees. The Court has an annual budget of more than $1 billion. ABOUT THE POSITION
Accounting Technicians are responsible for performing highly responsible processing, reconciliation, verification, administration and reporting duties in one or more of the following specialized accounting support areas: collections, revenue distribution, claims processing, payroll, trust funds, non-sufficient fund checks, escheatment, refunds/disbursements, vendor payments and other Accounts Payable related functions. TELEWORK OPPORTUNITIES
This position may be eligible for partial telework following an initial training period contingent upon the Court's operational unit.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify, you must meet the following option at the time of application:

Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; completion of course work in bookkeeping and accounting - and - three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in performing financial - or -statistical recordkeeping, at least two (2) years of which were at the level of Accounting Assistant.*

*NOTE: Experience at the level of Accounting Assistant is defined as performing work in a comparable class with the same level of responsibility and requiring the same knowledge, skills and abilities. Duties include performing routine to moderately difficult accounting support functions requiring a detailed knowledge of the Court's accounts payable, bond and bail processing, processing of claims, non-sufficient funds check and/or refund processing policies and procedures. Resolving problems related to these functions by referring to Court policies and procedures and knowledge of the function gained through experience.

  • Experience with Case Management Systems and/or financial software and systems
  • Experience working with Accounts Payables and/or Accounts Receivables
  • Extremely detailed oriented and conscientious about quality work product

Choices Benefit Plan
Benefits may be purchased using a tax-free monthly benefits allowance between $1,099.20 and $2,369.10 for the 2023 plan year (based on number enrolled in medical coverage). Flexible Spending Accounts
Employees may contribute up to $237 per month into a tax-free Health Care Spending Account and up to $400 per month tax-free into a Dependent Care Spending Account. The Court contributes up to $375 per month to the Dependent Care Spending Account.

Leave Benefits
Vacation - All permanent and other designated categories of employees are eligible to earn paid vacation based on years of service. Vacation is based on continuous service and credited at the completion of each consecutive six-month period of employment.

Sick leave - Depending on the length of service and employment categories, up to one day of full pay per month of service is accrued monthly for qualifying service.

Holidays - 14 days per year.

- Optional tax-deferred supplemental retirement plan that includes a County match of up to 4% of employee's salary.
