Job Overview:
The law firm is seeking an Entry Level Patent Agent with a background in chemistry or a relevant physical sciences field to join their team in Oakland, CA. Duties:
- Conduct prior art searches and analysis.
- Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
- Assist in patent prosecution, including drafting correspondence with clients and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Collaborate with attorneys on patent-related matters.
- Maintain accurate records and files related to patent applications.
Requirements:
- Eligible to be admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in chemistry, or other relevant physical sciences field; or pertinent industry experience.
- 0-3 years of patent attorney or agent experience.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Interest in patent prosecution.
Education:
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in chemistry, or other relevant physical sciences field.
Certifications:
- Admission to practice before the USPTO is a plus.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in chemistry, or other relevant physical sciences field.
- Prior patent prosecution experience in a law firm setting is a plus.
