POSITION SUMMARY The Litigation Paralegal is responsible for supporting multiple attorneys in the Firm and is expected to have a high degree of responsibility for project management and implementation to help deliver efficient, responsive and creative results for our clients. Essential Functions Statement(s) Prepare, review, edit, proofread and file a variety of documents Review incoming discovery from opposing counsel for deficiency and prepare supplemental requests, as needed Review, request and summarize medical records, criminal records Prepare background memorandum’s on witnesses Electronic Case Filing (ECF) Organize and maintain case files, attorney notebooks, databases, spreadsheets and other materials Interact and communication with experts Interact with other paralegals to assist with heavy workload or coverage Assist attorneys in preparation for trial by arranging travel accommodations, filing motions, preparing trial exhibits, coordinating experts and witnesses Administratively support Firm business development if needed Developing, responding or objecting to interrogatories or request to admit and summarizing interrogatories and admissions received Drafting and editing pleadings; includes reviewing and answering complaints, counterclaims and third-party complaints, motions to dismiss or strike jurisdictional motions and research for pleadings Coordinate and track project activities Perform other duties as requested Supervisory Responsibilities : This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Associate’s Degree in paralegal or legal studies or other related discipline is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience: Minimum of 3 years legal experience required, and 4 years in legal experience preferred. Computer Skills: Skilled with MS Office Suite and proficiency in trial software. Certificates & Licenses: Paralegal certificate from ABA-approves program is preferred, but will consider experience. Other Requirements: Excellent written and oral communication skills (comprehension & expression). Strong command of the English language, including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, form and style. Detail-oriented and ability to create, compose, proof and edit correspondence. Possess sense of initiative and responsibility to manage case load and maintain confidentiality of records and information. Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressured environment and maintain case/trial deadlines. Excellent problem-solving skills and team mindset. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work environment is in a professional office setting. The majority of activity this role performs will be sedentary work.
