A successful candidate would already have worked in a fast-paced defense firm focused on civil litigation matters, with an emphasis on personal injury and/or mass torts and will be ready to hit the ground running Experience in mass torts, multidistrict litigation and/or California Judicial Council Coordination Proceedings preferred, but not required Paralegal certification, Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a litigation paralegal Solid understanding of civil litigation (state and federal deadlines and rules) Ability to think and act independently and with minimal supervision Articulate, organized and a team player with excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines Responsibilities: This role will support litigation lawyers and assist in the management of a high volume complex litigation cases Maintain and update case files, including pleadings, discovery documents, correspondence, and exhibits Prepare and manage case timelines, calendars, and deadlines to ensure compliance Coordinate with external parties, such as clients, witnesses, experts, co-counsel, and opposing counsel, as necessary Conduct comprehensive legal research using various online and offline resources to gather relevant information including Lexis and Westlaw Summarize and present research findings to attorneys in a clear and concise manner Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and affidavits Cite check briefs and prepare table of authorities Assist with the preparation and filing of court documents (at all levels, including appellate), ensuring adherence to court rules and procedures in various jurisdictions Organize and maintain electronic and physical document databases, ensuring confidentiality and easy retrieval Assist in the preparation and response to discovery requests, including document production and interrogatories Coordinate and manage document review processes, often involving large volumes of data Utilize automated eDiscovery review systems including Relativity, CaseMap/TimeMap, West Case Notebook, among others Assist in conducting investigations, including locating and interviewing witnesses, and gathering relevant evidence Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions Organize and manage trial exhibits, witness lists, and other trial-related materials Provide on-site support during trials, including managing exhibits, coordinating witnesses, and assisting with courtroom technology.
