The Senior Buyer will be responsible for managing procurement strategies, negotiating supplier agreements, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality materials to support production schedules. This role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of supply chain principles, and the ability to build and maintain strategic supplier relationships in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Job Description
- Procurement Strategy: Develop and execute procurement strategies that align with the company's objectives, focusing on cost savings, quality improvement, and supplier performance.
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and sustainability. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term partnerships.
- Negotiation & Contract Management: Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable agreements that meet operational and budgetary requirements.
- Material Planning: Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to forecast material needs, ensuring inventory levels meet production demands without excess stock.
- Cost Control: Monitor market trends and material price fluctuations to proactively address cost changes. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Risk Management: Assess supplier risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential disruptions to the supply chain.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all purchased materials meet quality standards and regulatory requirements. Work closely with quality assurance teams to address non-conformances.
- Continuous Improvement: Evaluate procurement processes and tools to identify inefficiencies and drive improvements that enhance operational performance.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior procurement team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in procurement or buying roles, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of supply chain best practices and material management principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
