Summary

Under general supervision, is responsible for supporting Bexar County Information Technology team; will support the mission of the County, ensuring successful delivery of IT services as defined in the duties and responsibilities. This position will represent the County in a professional and effective manner and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, outside organizations and agencies, vendors and the general public. Flexibility to achieve performance excellence in a telework arrangementDuties and Responsibilities

Applies subject matter knowledge in the area of Business Analytics, providing services to clients in a shared services environmentExamines and identifies data patterns and trends to help answer business questions and improve decision making.Identifies areas to increase efficiency and automation of data analysis processesResponsible for performing general analytics and statistical modeling on existing data sets in various areas of the county to assess trends and develop actionable insights and recommendations to management, via understanding of the business model and the information available for analysisUses data, statistical and quantitative analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling, and fact-based management to drive decision makingImproves data quality and designing or presenting conclusions gained from analyzing data using statistical tools like Microsoft Excel, SAS, SSRS, and othersInterprets data, analyze results using statistical techniquesIdentifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data setsWorks with management to prioritize business and information needsLocates and defines report and business intelligence improvement opportunitiesPerforms other related technology duties and projects as assignedMinimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a relevant degree, 3-5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceKnowledge of and experience with reporting packages, databases (SQL), and programming (e.g., XML orETL frameworks); knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SAS); knowledge of programming logic, although no experience with a specific programming language; experience as a data analyst or business data analystExpertise skill regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques; proficient skill in performing queries, report writing, and presenting findings; analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy; analytical skills and an understanding of system databases, data elements, and application software solutions to maximize data gathering and data analysisAbility to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, stakeholders, County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, outside organizations and agencies, vendors and the general publicMust secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearanceMust clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen testRequired to be on call 24 hoursMay be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweekMay be required to work weekendsThis position may need to satisfy the requirement of completing and passing an assessment during the employment processWorking Environment and Physical Demands:
