We are seeking a talented and motivated Python Software Developer with solid SQL skills to join our team and contribute to our mission of delivering high-quality solutions to our clients.As an Intermediate Python Software Developer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions. You will work closely with our development team to create scalable and efficient software applications, contribute to software architecture design, and support our software development projects. Your contributions will have a direct impact on our ability to deliver exceptional software to our internal clients.This full-time, salaried position is remote and open to candidates in the US who are eligible to work without current or future sponsorship. The salary range is $85,000 to $100,000 annually, depending on skills and expertise.What you’ll do:Join a dedicated team of data science professionals who are committed to delivering high-quality solutions to our nonprofit clients.Help to take a modeling application written in Python and SQL to the next level of maturity.Develop services to replace and extend functionality currently built in the existing application.Develop functionality that spans SQL and Python, mindful of the strengths and weaknesses of both languages and the appropriate handoffs between the two.Design and develop with consideration for maintainability, readability, performance, forward and backward compatibility of both code and models.Work with data scientists to improve our models and to preserve the validity of existing models as the application evolves.Perform diagnostics and ad hoc analysis, mostly in SQL, but sometimes Python.Work with engineers, data engineers, product managers, and analysts to operate and continually improve our modeling tool.Design new functionality in a collaborative fashion with data scientists and others.Participate in code reviews, as both reviewer and reviewee.Assist with database optimization and management efforts.Keep up to date with current methods in software engineering and data analytics.What you’ll bring to the role:A bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field.2+ years of experience in Python programming.Strong SQL experience.A keen attention to detail and concern for side effects.The desire and drive to produce a quality product.Interest in assisting and receiving feedback from users.Proficiency in data transformation, ETL processes, and data analysis.Knowledge of database management and optimization.Proficiency in software development best practices, including code quality, testing, and version control.Familiarity with data modeling and schema design.Effective communication and teamwork abilities.Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.You’ll be a top candidate if you:Bring a lifelong love of learning and an intense curiosity for how and why things work.Love challenging questions and see them as opportunities to learn and grow.Are willing to be innovative and are open to new approaches.Are passionate about helping to drive nonprofit missions forward.If you are a talented Python programmer with a passion for working with data, we encourage you to apply.
