Position Purpose:

The Item Master Specialist is responsible for maintaining and managing the item master database for Saint Anthony Hospital. This role involves accurately creating, updating, and organizing item information to ensure the availability and accuracy of data related to medical supplies, equipment, and other items used within the organization. The specialist will collaborate with various departments, such as Purchasing, Materials Management, and clinical staff, to ensure the item master database supports efficient procurement, inventory management, and patient care processes.

Essential Functions (list in order of importance)

Item Master Database Management: Create, update, and maintain the item master database with accurate and detailed information, including item descriptions, codes, categories, pricing, and vendor data. Ensure compliance with organizational standards, industry regulations, and coding systems (e.g., Universal Product Codes, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System). Regularly review and audit the item master data to identify and correct errors, inconsistencies, and outdated information.Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with purchasing, supply chain, and clinical staff to gather and validate item data, specifications, and requirements. Communicate effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders to obtain accurate and complete item information, pricing, and updates. Provide support and guidance to departments regarding item master database usage, data standards, and best practices.Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze item master data to identify trends, opportunities for standardization, cost-saving measures, and process improvements. Generate regular reports and metrics related to item master data accuracy, completeness, and utilization. Utilize data analysis tools and techniques to monitor inventory levels, item usage patterns, and identify potential issues or discrepancies.Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance item master management processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Participate in system upgrades, implementations, and testing related to the item master database. Identify and recommend system enhancements or tools that can improve item master management and related processes.Training and Documentation: Develop and deliver training programs and materials to educate staff on item master database usage, data integrity, and compliance requirements. Maintain comprehensive documentation, including policies, procedures, and guidelines related to item master management.QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field (preferred).Prior experience working with item master databases or data management in a hospital or healthcare setting.Strong knowledge of medical supplies, equipment, and healthcare products, including coding systems and industry standards.Proficiency in using database management systems and software applications.Analytical skills with the ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful insights.Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors.Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance standards related to item master management.Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.SAINT ANTHONY HOSPITAL HIGHLIGHTS
