Our team is responsible for securing the entire Azure stack and protecting our customers by providing secure cloud-scale services and tools. If you’re passionate about improving Azure security monitoring and detection strategy and solving cloud-scale security challenges, we want you on our team.

In this role, you’ll work alongside Product Managers and Engineers, as well as other Data Analysts, to investigate and monitor key strategic threats against the Azure platform and identify actionable ways to detect and mitigate these threats. You’ll tackle complex security problems and guide the rest of the team in their efforts, helping formulate approaches to solve challenging problems and discover new opportunities using well-defined algorithms and data sources. You’ll have the opportunity to partner with teams across Microsoft to prioritize and drive impactful work for the Security Division and drive excellence through execution and delivery. Responsibilities

Help the team make data-driven security decisions using data analytics to improve Azure’s security postureProvide insights into monitoring and detection data, including signal-to-noise rates, efficacy rates, detection patterns that help PMs translate security policy into high efficacy detection capabilitiesStructure large, complex data sets to find usable information, solve difficulties, and analyze problems with advanced analytical or statistical methodsIndependently analyze data to reveal its meaning—identify and extract insecure operations and behavioral anomaliesDocument detection algorithms, investigation playbooks, processes related to data explorationSimplify the complex by generating reports and visualizations that identify trends/patterns/predictions/gaps, evaluate the efficacy of monitoring and detections, and inform improvements in security coverage and operationsCollaborate with other Analysts and PMs to prepare briefings that communicate strategy, current state, and planningMaintain a high bar for delivery quality, data accuracy, and precision in reporting, all while thinking end-to-end about securing the Azure environmentResearch/Analyze attempted or successful efforts to compromise systems’ security and determine detection gaps and signals to correlate

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysisOR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related fieldOR equivalent experience.1+ years experience using Kusto, KQL, syslog, and data analytics tools: Python, Excel, Power BI1+ years of Applied Technical expertise in security areas: analyzing logs and telemetry; Understanding of adversarial Tactics Techniques and Procedures (TTPs)

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Business Analytics IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $80,900 - $162,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $105,300 - $176,900 per year.
