Communications/Network Engineer (OCONUS Travel), Senior

Navstar is seeking a Network Engineer to support a high-profile client based in the Northern Virginia area. This role will require 30% OCONUS travel to austere and sometimes hazardous environments.
Role Description:
OCONUS travel to developing countries and some conflict zones. Industry - standard installation of communications and networking equipment (VSAT, Cisco Routers, interconnecting media).Conducts site surveys, design, procurement, installation and repair of VSAT world-wide.Plans network design, layout and develops the baseline configuration for the system.Create detailed and accurate supporting documentation (engineering orders, Bill of Materials, etc.) to complete assigned tasks.Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements and provides recommendations and guidance.Briefs government customer and other contractors on recommended solutions and designs.Provide technical support and troubleshooting to users to operation staff.Perform general network administration duties as needed.Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.Perform cable infrastructure tasks.Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position you must hold an active TS/SCI clearance.Bachelor's degree in related field.2 years of hands-on satellite communications or VSAT experience, an understanding of basic network functionality.At least 7 years' experience with network operating systems; network hardware (routers; switches; cabling and other essential network hardware); and LAN/WAN protocols (OSPF; BGP; MPLS).About Navstar
