The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) is recruiting for a new role in our organization. As a key member of GFOA’s member experience team,

GFOA’s new Business Analyst will assist with the development and implementation of a comprehensive member/audience strategy, use data analysis to optimize the success of GFOA’s brand and programs, and help GFOA further our mission to advance excellence in public finance

. The Analyst will coordinate GFOA’s use of data to inform decisions by connecting program managers to key member and market data, and use data analysis to support the growth, retention, and delivery of value to GFOA’s 23,000+ members.The Analyst will promote data use within GFOA by helping teams visualize, analyze, and take action on key findings.The Analyst will report to GFOA’s Membership Strategy Director as part of GFOA’s member experience team, and will have a valuable role in membership strategy, marketing, communications, and data analytics. The Analyst will work closely with other team members in areas of education, research, certification, member operations, and resource development. The Analyst will be a

Our 23,000+ members across the United States and Canada rely upon GFOA to provide timely information, practical educational opportunities, high-quality publications, professional networking, and current best practices.Key Responsibilities Include:Manage the development of a data program including adoption and usage within GFOAGathering, analyzing, and interpreting marketing data relative to GFOA membersAssist in development of GFOA’s member and audience strategy focused on growth, retention, and engagementAnalyze and report on data to identify trends within the industry and related to audience engagement with GFOACoordinate and manage member and audience research activitiesCollaborate with staff and strategic partners to plan, develop and execute GFOA’s marketing and advertising initiativesAssist in evaluating program effectiveness to connect operational performance to member outcomesAssist with data to inform digital marketing strategies for GFOA including website, social media, and targeted marketing to drive membership growth and engagementMonitoring customer/audience bases and identifying new onesMonitoring the efficacy of marketing trends through analytical tools and softwareResearch member/audience opinions, buying habits, preferences, wants and needsEvaluates target audience online behavior and provide insights and recommendations for further enhancements to the member experienceThe ideal candidate will have the following professional qualities, skills and characteristics:Passion for the missionExcellent research, analytical, and data interpretation skillsExperience in digital marketing and data analytics – previous association experience a plusGood knowledge of analytical software, such as SAS, SPSS, Acumen, or Google AnalyticsFamiliarity with an Association Management System (AMS) highly preferred, but not requiredAbility to communicate complex information in an easy-to-understand formatCommitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and expertise in optimizing strategies that will build a diverse and inclusive membershipDegree in business, statistics, mathematics, social sciences, marketing, or a similar field2-5 years of relevant work experienceExperience in managing digital marketing strategies, including launch of new products and programsKnowledge of survey design and market research practicesStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience in program implementation, focusing on strategic outcomes for the organizationExperience managing teams and coordinating resources across the organizationCollaborative leadership skillsFamiliarity with state and local government and public finance industry
