Journeyman Distillery has been a top name in weddings and private events in Southwest Michigan for several years and we're crossing the border to begin offering these one-of-a-kind experiences at our new location in Valparaiso, Indiana. The ground has been broken, the work is underway, and with two large events spaces in the blueprints, we expect the inquiries to start rolling in. The Events Sales Manager will be instrumental in selling these spaces and beginning to book events for the future as well as building corporate events for both properties. Ahead of our grand opening, this individual will join our management team in Three Oaks, ultimately transitioning to lead all event-related efforts across locations.

The Events Sales Manager leads the sales process for all events sales and directs staff to effectively guide customers through their event experiences. Identifies solutions that meet customer goals and objectives and utilizes all available tools to ensure maximum event and revenue capture from client base. Cultivates and maintains relationships with vendors as well as cross-functionally with Food & Beverage (F&B), Facilities & Maintenance, and Production departments. Serves as a resource for event execution and supports team as needed with guidance and training. Leads and supports Journeyman initiatives and business strategies while exemplifying the company's core values.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Events Sales Leadership

Lead Events Sales Managers in all events sales efforts, ensuring accountability to established goals, standards, policies, and procedures.Maximize revenue opportunity for assigned clients by creating effective strategies for per-event revenue growth, including upsell and cross-sell opportunities.Take a First Customer approach, preparing and delivering compelling solutions that convey the value of Journeyman and effectively solve client challenges.Effectively collaborate with vendors and other departments of the company to capture and service events.Understand event cost structure and incorporate into solution designs according to established profitability guidelines.Maintain relationships with clients, events personnel, and various Journeyman supporting functions and departments.Thoroughly research and understand client history and previous experiences to create more personalized experiences.Lead sales meetings, deliver group presentations, and facilitate budgeting and forecasting discussions with owners and key leadership.Address client and team member complaints and concerns, and effectively resolve issues.Ensure all client and lead information is up to date and accurate in the Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) at all times.Develop and maintain a healthy pipeline of corporate leads to ensure achievement of established revenue targets.Assist Director of Hospitality in setting sales quotas and assigning leads.Learn and adopt all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to events along with any new initiatives/programs that are implemented.Maintain knowledge of new product/service offerings and emerging technology supporting meetings and events.Support sales team members with pipeline management, creating effective sales strategies, and implementing best practices.Provide direct leadership, training, and coaching to sales team members.Promote a culture of high performance, accountability, and a Pursuit of Perfection that values continuous learning and a commitment to quality.Events Sales

Drive results, employing senses of Grit and Determination and acting as a true Journeyman Ambassador in soliciting and securing business.Client Relations

Respond to leads on event inquires within 24 hours.Have a clear understanding of all amenities provided with each space and be able to explain the differences between packages.Meet and effectively communicate with clients to understand their specific expectations, budget, and food & beverage related needs, such as dietary restrictions throughout the entire planning process, from booking to event day.Help clients design a timeline for their event, as well as a floor plan that is attractive and conducive to efficient service within the event space.Finalize menus, create invoices, and facilitate payments for clients, adhering strictly to all payment deadlines.Host group tastings of food and beverage offerings as well as some private tastings.Be present on event day to provide support to the couple and staff, remaining present through dinner/food service and ensuring seamless handoff to Banquet Captain.Lead pre-event meeting with Banquet Captain in specifics of event details and service timeline.Be onsite for appropriate time (as needed per event) for proper execution of pre- and post-meal services.Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Food & beverage management experience and event operations experience.Positive attitude, team player, and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.Excellent customer service and organizational skills.A true desire to understand and anticipate the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.Comprehensive knowledge of event management software, Office 365, and Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)An understanding that it is an integral and essential function of this position to be onsite every weekend for the execution of events, and that this individual's weekly schedule will not be fixed from week-to-week and will depend on the events schedule as well as client needs.Excellent oral, written, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills are a must.Proven record of employee management - Must be able to lead a team successfully and be comfortable with issuing corrective action when needed, both in-the-moment coaching, as well as formally documented disciplinary action as required.Familiarity with an Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) is a plus.

Salary Description

$50k base salary + commission
