They are one of the region’s largest contractors with plans to keep growing.RESPONSIBILITIES:The General Manager is responsible for managing all facets of the operation to generate and produce desired revenue and net income. Additionally, the General Manager position is responsible for all estimates and job cost for the branch and for the branch being compliant with all OSHA and company safety standards. The General Manager is responsible for developing branch budgets and business plans and gaining approval from the Company’s Management. This position requires a high level of project management in commercial construction.ESTIMATES AND BIDSReviewing and understanding scope of work and project specifications.Analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects and servicesUsing established labor and material markups for overhead and profit.Consulting with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates.Gathering required bid documents.Ensuring that all bids are submitted on time. Overseeing estimates, proposals, preparation of presentations, and sales contracts and ensuring competitive pricing on all prospective bid applications, while striving to maintain maximum profit margins.BUSINESS DEVELOPMENTIdentifying and pursuing potential business.Responding to the needs of existing customers.Analyzing completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine reasons for discrepancies.Providing improvement recommendations to cost-estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.Conferring with building owners / managers, General Contractors, and subcontractors in interpreting specifications or blueprints, and coordinating various phases of construction to meet project and customer requirements and prevent delays.Organizing product information, shop drawings, and samples for submittals. Administering contract documents including subcontracts, submittals, work orders, and compliance requirements for Federal/State guidelinesPerforming final walk-through with owner or building manager.Reviewing, submitting, and giving final approval to accounts receivable for all projectsMeeting with direct reports on a quarterly basis to establish goals, review performance, discuss needs, and discuss employee experience.Conducting a formal performance review for all direct reports annually.Conducting a compensation review for all direct reports annually.Meeting regularly with superintendents to review the previous and next day’s activities. Someone who exercises curiosity on a regular basis.Will have high standards for the work their team produces.Can build and lead an effective team.Is willing to learn from mistakes.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Effective communication –Ability to convey information, concepts and concerns to people with differing communication styles.Technology – Ability to use phones, tablets and other technology tools; Knowledge of and ability to use the following software applications: Word processing softwareSpreadsheet softwareMicrosoft Office programsMath – Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as Add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Rates, ratios, proportions, and percentagesAbility to comprehend drawings, specifications, documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Roof system knowledge – Knowledge of various roof systems, materials, construction processes and theories; ability to design a roof system; desire to stay abreast of codes and other necessary information.Safety and security – Ability to identify, correct and report unsafe conditions according to company and OSHA standards.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in construction management preferred. 5 years of related commercial construction work experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation3-5 years of construction experience, preferably in the Commercial Roofing industry.Preferred Experience with scheduling and field operations.
