NURSE PRACTITIONER

Position Summary:
Nurse Practitioner provides patient care services by independently and interdependently scheduling, supervising, and/or conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; independently participates in the delivery of direct patient care within the scope of authority granted by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing and following the AHL protocols and standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Education 1. Current Louisiana RN license. 2. Must possess a Master's degree with a concentration in the respective advanced practice nursing specialty from an accredited college or university. 3. Must possess a certification by a nationally recognized certifying body. An RN holding a current, unencumbered, unrestricted, and valid license to practice professional nursing who was previously recognized by the LA State Board of Nursing as an advanced practitioner of nursing on or before December 31, 1995 (as per Act 633 of 1995) will substitute for certification by a nationally 4. Current CPR certification required.
Experience 1. At least one year of experience in advanced practice nursing. 2. Knowledge of scope of practice.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1. Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. High level of ethics in maintaining patient confidentiality. 2. Excellent analytical skills to assess and evaluate patient needs and develop and implement a care plan. 3. Handles a multitude of tasks simultaneously. 4. Communicates with patients, physicians, and other staff in verbal and written form. 5. Provides safe and effective nursing care. 6. Calm, professional attitude in stressful situations and interactions. 7. Maintains professional composure under stress as in emergency situations.
Physical and Mental Requirements 1. Stands, sits, and walks most of the day. 2. Reads gauges, digital read outs, graphs and educational material, and patient charts in English (Visual acuity) 3. Exerts up to 20 pounds of force frequently including pushing and/or pulling.
