Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Accounting is responsible for overseeing the accounting functions as well as accounts payable, payroll and managing all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close. They will play a crucial role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and supporting strategic decision-making.

This position is remote, with a periodic presence at the Parsippany, NJ headquarters. The Senior Manager, Accounting will report to the Senior Director, Finance & Assistant Controller.

Primary Responsibilities

Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including cash reporting, accounts payable and payroll. Manage all phases of monthly accounting close, including setting up the calendar of events for the close and year-end processes.Ensure proper and timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger in accordance with GAAP.Ensure accurate and timely completion of the month, quarter, and year-end close deliverables.Oversee accounts payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and receiptsReview semi-monthly payroll processing and serve as the backup preparer.Prepare monthly journal entries for complex areas such as clinical trial, equity and intercompany accountingLease and equity investment accounting, including preparation of supporting schedules for quarterly reviews.Analyze, prepare, and review general ledger account reconciliations.Assist with preparing supporting schedules for annual audit and quarterly reviews.Contribute to the development of financial accounting systems required to maintain accounting and reporting requirements.Approve, review, and maintain schedules and ad hoc financial reports.Manage a team of four members.Problem solve and research and respond to questions about the GL and financial reports.Be a primary contact for both internal and external auditors.Assist in process improvement initiatives and system improvements

Experience & Competencies

Bachelors degree in Accounting, a minimum of 5 years’ experience, CPA a plus Biotech or pharma industry experience, preferredProficient in Excel, Word and OutlookKnowledge of NetSuite, FloQast, Coupa, ADP, Concur and Equity Edge a plusStrong understanding and application of US GAAP, internal control processes (SOX 404)Solid foundation in accounting processes and principlesExcellent problem solving, analytical skills and detail-orientedWorks accurately and quickly with superior organizational skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to cope and adapt in a changing environmentHighly dependable and able to handle confidential and sensitive informationAble to recognize opportunities for process improvement and provide positive attitude toward problem solving and the resulting implementation of solutionsSelf-starter with strong organizational and time management skills with ability to multi-taskHas a positive attitude about work and providing service to cross functional partnersAbility to work independently or as part of a teamDemonstrated supervisory, management and leadership skillsAbility to interact with all levels of the organization

Salary Statement:

Offered compensation is determined based on market data, internal equity, and an applicant’s relevant skills, experience, and educational background. The salary ranges displayed below are only for those who, if selected for the role, will perform work in the specific locations listed. Please note the employment opportunity is not limited to these locations.

California Salary Range: $165,000 to $180,000

New York City Salary Range: $150,000 to $165,000
