Data Financial Analyst II

We are seeking an analyst to generate and deliver insights that will drive improvements, and enable smart decision making focusing on sales and related metrics of our products. In this role you will be responsible for deep diving into analysis and work with a broad set of data sources, analytical tools and visualization software to help the business solve real problems and drive results. A successful candidate will display strong analytical as well as interpersonal skills, and a deep interest in understanding our business. The ability to develop strong relationships with our internal customers, fully understanding their needs, and using data to drive business impact will be paramount.

The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position. National Life offers a competitive total rewards package which includes: a 401(k) retirement plan match; medical, dental, and vision insurance; a company funded wellness account for director and below employees; 10 paid holidays; a generous paid time off plan (22 days of combined time-off for non-exempt employees and exempt employees have discretion in managing their time, including scheduling time off in the normal course of business, but in no event will exempt employees receive less sick time than required by state or local law); 6 weeks of paid parental leave; and 6 weeks of paid family leave after a year of full-time employment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Reporting: Provide Distribution leadership with the data they need to effectively run their business areas
- Design, create and maintain a data self-service ecosystem (dashboards, automated reports) that tell the business story
- Create ad-hoc reports as needed
- Analysis and storytelling
- Proactively monitor and investigate trends that are brought to us for analysis, providing a clear narrative to Distribution leaders
- Provide data-driven actionable recommendations that focus on our key operational goals
- Partnering with the business: Establish and maintain strong partnerships with business leaders in Distribution to understand their business areas and important priorities. Develop a 'thinking partner' relationship with them, bringing data and analysis to illuminate their decision-making
- Strengthening a culture of data
- Educate customers at all levels of the organization on data insights, self-service dashboards, and other data-related tools or applications
- Support the development of our Data Community through partnerships with other analysts on the team and throughout the company
Skills and Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to understand, work with and interpret data effectively to impact business results
- Caring curiosity, demonstrated in proactive & reactive solutioning, asking questions, learning this business, knowledge building connected to the outcome and the impact on others
- Acting with urgency in performance, execution, decisioning, and responsiveness
- Focus on quality, and the ability to improve control procedures
- A customer service mindset with excellent communication skills, the ability to influence at all levels, and a talent for conveying complex findings in a clear and actionable way
- Proficiency in data visualization tools, Tableau is preferred
- Proficiency in working with Alteryx and SQL, preferred
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving start-up environment, a strong team player, and excited by the prospect of taking on all tasks no matter how big or small
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in a quantitatively rigorous field (e.g. Business Analytics, Statistics, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, etc.)
- 2+ years' experience using data and analysis
