Materials ManagerUnder the direction of the Plant Manager, the Materials Manager is responsible for creating the Master Production Schedule along with managing the Production Control and Purchasing departments to execute the master production schedule. The Materials manager is accountable to provide timely and cost effective material plans for both purchased and manufactured components, along with the supervision of the receiving and shipping functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may expand to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Oversee the preparation of the master schedule and enhancement of the database used in development.

The release of requirements to the shop floor, suppliers and sub-contractors

The accuracy and enhancement of the ERP system and other company databases or files.

Accuracy and detailed records on procurement activity, supplier performance, and shop routings.

Supervise, evaluate and coach team members.

Develop and maintain supplier relationships while negotiating pricing and delivery.

Develop departmental procedures and ensures they are followed.

Continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility

Responsible for the information flow and cooperation between responsible areas, Engineering and Manufacturing. Coordinate and supervise Receiving, Shipping and Warehousing procedures.

Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Logistics or relevant field. APICS and/or Supply Chain Management certification preferred.

5 or more years of experience as a Materials or Supply Chain Manager.

Ability to work in and maintain databases using Microsoft Excel, and others relevant to company processes.

Knowledge of manufacturing engineering, routings, fabrication and assembly processes and capabilities.

Ability to read blueprints and bills of material.

Professional communication and leadership skills.

Ability to lead, coach and develop team members.

Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a very fast paced, sometimes stressful environment and possess strong decision-making skills.

Demonstrated proficiency in general office related software. (Ex. Microsoft Office and/or MRP/ERP System)

Strong programming skills with Microsoft Access Database software.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

Supervisor Production Control, Purchasing, Shipping, Receiving and Warehousing.
