Description: Seeking a technologist with a WiFi networking background to take on a WiFi engineer role. This position will focus on providing engineering talent to support Spectrum Out of Home WiFi. Out of Home WiFi is defined as Spectrum WiFi access points deployed in high density areas enabling Spectrum Mobile WiFi offload outside of the customers home. The day to day life will be investigating new product introduction, deploying new WiFi software release packages with fellow engineers, and providing technical guidance for high priority defects identified in testing environments. Weekly collaboration with vendors and internal teams will be required to keep the road map aligned and on track. The ideal candidate will have a significant WiFi and network engineering background. Industry WiFi certifications are preferred. Network Engineering (CCNA level) IPv4 IPv6 NAT DHCP Packet Captures Systems Administration Linux experience Virtualization experience (VMWare vSphere 6/7 preferred) WiFi Architecture Deep understanding of 802.11 WiFi protocols Can explain evolution of WiFi (4, 5, 6, 6E, and 7) Deployed large scale WiFi solutions for Enterprise, Muni, or Service Provider Familiar with Cisco WLC, Cisco 9800 (XR), Meraki, Mist, and / or Ruckus (at least deep knowledge of one vendor) Can proficiently document architectual designs involving WiFi and Network Engineering concepts Understanding of AP call home process (controller or cloud discovery features based on DHCP, DNS, etc) Required Skills : Need in depth experience with at least one wireless device vendor: they use Ruckus primarily, with a little bit of Cisco. Aruba devices would also work. Basic Qualification : Additional Skills : Supporting Out of Home Wi-Fi: Public spaces, arenas, anything that isn't dedicated wireless coverage for a single building or group of people. The goal is to continue to build that out and allow broad scale Wi-Fi access for Spectrum and Spectrum mobile subscribers.
