PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Under general direction of Manager, Sales Development department, execute policies and procedures set forth by the. Sell, plan, develop, coordinate, and negotiate contracts for new revenue sources. Oversee the total planning, purchasing, set-up, information distribution, etc. of all sales products. Monitor department goals and work flow to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits.

Percent Time Spent Essential Functions20% Marketing:Research, review tour and customer requirements, and utilize information to create related programs for the worldwide market.Keep track of products sold monthly, Prepare preliminary monthly products passenger head count reports.

60% Sales Development:Plan, sell, organize, arrange, coordinate, and create new revenue sources for various group tours and individual customers, such as optional tours, products, transportation, meal, admission, etc. Transmit details of tour arrangements to all departments of JTB Hawaii, sales offices in Japan and related offices.Contact, consult, and negotiate with business partners to create new revenue sources. Research information related to special products. Respond to inquiries from all clients and provide updated information to related personnel; office staff and/or clients.Have own clients(partners) company assigned, respond to inquiries, resolve their issues and concerns, sale JTB products & services and bring a profit from them to achieve the target company required.Arrange advertising contracts and override Commission contracts with clients and various B2B agents. Determine rates, check vendor’s insurance, create cancellation policies, check contents, booking procedures, etc.To promote our services, update JHI corporate website, new OLIOLI website, JHI web, My Bus web, Superstar, etc. Compile relevant data for research and marketing purpose.Promote filming coordination support services, aim to expand business and increase revenue by providing filming and location coordination services for TV, commercials, YouTube movies, online” live”, etc.Provide promotional services, corporate PR advertising, PR events, planning and creative services to generate business.

10% Inter-Department Collaboration:Review business partner contracts and rates to ensure that information is correct for annual and seasonal programs with all contracted parties.Update and maintain optional tour/omiyage tariff data in various in-house computer systems.Update contract information and distribute to relevant departments. Create various tables and codes for products.Analyze, support and resolve work problems, respond to and assist staff in resolving work issues.Support services for JTB Japan Group, providing services that can only be provided locally.

10% Cross-Departmental Collaboration:Communicate with departments to resolve customer claims and complaints. Process charge waiver requests.Establish and maintain a viable communication network and good relationships with business partners and Japan offices.Communicate in person, by phone, fax, or e-mail with vendors to verify information; check on quality and complaints.Coordinate with other departments and divisions in promotion and development of new programs.Coordinate the maintenance of updated and revised information to be distributed to external sources via JTB Hawaii’s websites and commissioned external websites.Collaborate with other divisions/department on events organized by the company.

Secondary Functions:Process charge waiver requests.Conduct departmental meetings.Assist other departments or sections during peak periods as required.Assist in coverage in the absence of staff.Pick up and deliver documents, tour brochures, rack cards, etc.Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.Possess three (3) to five (5) years’ work experience in travel/hospitality and tour planning industry.Able to professionally and effectively communicate with employees, business partners, and clients in English and Japanese (written and verbal).Possess strong management skills and ability to enforce Federal, State, and company regulations.Possess knowledge of Hawaii’s tourism infrastructure, tour arrangement, optional tours, basic business concepts and procedures, reservations concepts and procedures, billing and invoice verification procedures, Japanese culture and customs.Possess working knowledge and skills with basic computer systems and software.Possess excellent customer service skills, knowledge of telephone operations, negotiation, etiquette, and business protocol.Able to work independently and cooperatively with others.Able to solve problems and deal constructively with conflict.Able to present ideas effectively, clearly and concisely.Possess basic math skills including usage of 10-key calculator.Possess valid Hawaii driver’s license with clean abstract.

Working Conditions:Working Hours:

Normal business hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, weekends and holidays, as deemed necessary.Working Environment:Air-conditioned office.Work in large, open room with approximately 50-60 employees and multiple computer consoles.Travel to various locations outside of the office, outside of the State of Hawaii.

Equipment Used:In-house computer system, personal computer, printers, 10-key calculator, copy machine, facsimile machine, telephone, and other standard office equipment.May use company car, if authorized.

Physical and Mental Demands:Constant – pulling/lifting/carrying less than 25 pounds, vision;Frequent – pulling/lifting/carrying 25 to more than 50 pounds, sitting, standing, walking, hearing;Occasional - pushing, running, stair climbing, bending, overhead reach;Seldom – twisting, side bending;Not applicable – crawling, crouching, kneeling, stopping, climbing, forward reaching, grasping, handling, finger dexterity, eye-hand-foot coordination.

Communication Demands:Constant – requires talking and written communication to co-workers, customers and outside trade persons/vendors.Not applicable – supervising others, training/giving verbal instructions.
