This part-time music specialist teaching position could include hours within our Fine Arts Preschool Program, and our Tanner Dance Studio Program. The Fine Arts Preschool Program music specialist position would include Mondays 8:30 am-1:45 pm, Tuesdays 8:30 am – 1:45 pm, Wednesdays 8:30 am-12:30 pm, Thursdays 8:30 am-12:30 pm, and occasional Fridays 8:30 am-12:30 pm, and the Tanner Dance Studio Program are hours as available. Experience in teaching creative dance to 3-5 yr olds is required.Candidate must demonstrate the ability to care, nurture, and enjoy preschool aged children. Additional Tanner Dance philosophy and Fine Arts Preschool program training will be provided to augment the expertise that the candidate is already bringing to the position. A background check will be a requirement of the University of Utah before working with minors.Responsibilities

Degree seeking, or degree holding candidate in Music, and Early Childhood Development is preferredKnowledge and experience in early childhood music and child developmentCome prepared each day with lesson plans suitable for preschool students.Demonstrate skills in creating engaging classroom lesson plans- preparation, execution, and adaptation to meet the evolving needs of the classroomMust be able to teach age appropriate lessons to preschoolers age 3.5-6 yrs old, and move, when applicable, during a music classCollaborate with preschool staff in planning and executing school events and daily logistics, and be a part of the teaching team.Assist with daily preschool logistics in setting up/cleaning up supplies, snack, activities, class materials, etc.Attend weekly faculty meetingsAttend and conduct parent teacher conferences 2x’s during the school year.Have good communication skills.Must have patience, be kind, compassionate, caring, nurturing, and enjoy working with children ages 3-6 years oldMust pass a background checkMinimum Qualifications

PreferencesDesired Experience:Musical knowledge and background experience for teaching early childhood music education classes appropriate for students ages 3.5-6yrs of age.Knowledge and experience in early childhood development.Classroom management skills appropriate for preschool age students.Has a creative mindset and works well on a team-collaborative setting with the Fine Arts Preschool staff of teachers.Good communication skills.Has worked with preschool age students.Education and/or Certifications:Applicants should have early childhood music education degree and/or certifications.Candidate should have experience teaching preschool aged students.Understands child development and/or has a degree in early childhood education.Special Instructions Summary
