Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill two part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Office Assistant position for the Cascade campus at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Office of Student Life enhances the mission of OSU-Cascades by providing services, resources, activities, and involvement opportunities to support the co-curricular experience of our students. We strive to connect students to the campus community, create opportunities to expand leadership skills, and inspire students to be life-long learners.The Events Council is made up of a group of students who plan campus-wide events. We facilitate spaces for memory-making and supplement students' educational lives here at OSU-Cascades. Office Assistants are responsible for keeping information on campus up-to-date, as well as greeting guests and sharing accurate information.Students receiving Work Study as part of their financial aid award are welcome to apply for this position.Position Duties

Support Administrative Processes (85%)

Maintain regular office hours to assist in facilitating day-to-day tasks, which include general office duties like answering the Student Life phone and regularly checking voicemail, checking and responding to emails, and ordering office supplies.Warmly greet visitors to the Office of Student Life while providing well-informed responses to all inquiriesDistribute student organization and community posters/flyers to campus bulletin boardsShred, file, or scan documents as directedAttend weekly Events Council meetingsAttend and support campus-wide events and activities planned by Events Council, including any Welcome activitiesOther Position Responsibilities (15%)

May be asked to serve on a committee or work group within the Office of Student Life or Student AffairsWork to learn, enhance, and promote diversity and social justiceRepresent Events Council and the Office of Student Life to the OSU-Cascades and Central Oregon communityEngage in ongoing professional development and community buildingMinimum Qualifications

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of studyMust meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employmentMust meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

Additional Required Qualifications

Experience working collaboratively as a part of a team.Ability to organize work, manage time, and follow through on tasks in a self-directed environment.Desire or interest in working with a variety of organizations and people from diverse cultures, communication styles, histories, and team structures.Strong communication skills, interpersonal and written.Preferred (Special) Qualifications

Previous experience working for any of the units in Student Life.Able to complete work in an accurate and timely manner with autonomy.Prior office experience with the ability to multi-task, assist with the organization, and maintain office functions to ensure efficient and effective operations.Able to manage time efficiently and abide by strict deadlines.Motivated, energetic, and able to maintain a positive attitude, especially in stressful situations.Experience working with various tools within Bend Beavs Central (CampusGroups) and Microsoft Office365.Eligible to return as an OSU-Cascades student for the 2025-2026 (Junior standing or below)In good academic standing for the term prior to selection and during entire period of employment..Working Conditions / Work Schedule

This position will work 15 hours per week at $17.00/hour starting with training Tuesday, September 3rd. Hours during the year include Week 0-10 during Fall term, Week 1-10 during Winter term and Week 1-Finals week Spring term. This position is located in Bend, Oregon.

Duties Breakdown

Nine hours will be for Office HoursFour hours will be for supporting events or additional Office Hours (switches approximately every other week)Thirty minutes will be for weekly individual check-insOne hour will be for weekly Events Council meetingsImportant Dates

Interviews will begin shortly after applications are received to fill positions before training.Tuesday, September 3rd to Friday, September 20th: Events Council begins student training (6 hours a day)Sunday, September 22nd to Tuesday, September 24th: Cascades Welcome Orientation Event Support (HOLD full day, working 8 hours per day)
