Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill a pool of six (6) part-time Student Event Assistants within the Chancellor and Dean's Events Unit at Oregon State University-Cascades, located in Bend, Oregon. This role offers students the flexibility to choose "gigs" (events) they are available and interested in working to pick up extra hours here and there. Tasks generally include moving furniture and event setup/cleanup. Students can expect to work between 0-5 hours per week, depending on the event schedule. This is an academic year (September 2024-June 2025).
Position DutiesEvent Setup and Cleanup:
Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture and equipment for events.Event Support:
Provide support during events as needed, including check-in, tours, assisting with catering or A/V, and other general customer service.Minimum Qualifications

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of studyMust meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employmentMust meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling programUndergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per termUndergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per termGraduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the
Office of International Services
(OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
Ability to lift 50 lbs.Demonstrate basic organizational and communication skills.Ability to be reliable and punctual.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Be a current full-time (no summer term enrollment required) OSU-Cascades student OR degree partnership student with OSU-Cascades and COCC with a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.50 or higher.Experience in event setup or related tasks.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.Possess an OLCC Alcohol Server License and Oregon Food Handler's Card. This requirement may be completed within 30 days of hiring at the expense of the employer.Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Working Conditions/Work Schedule
This is a part-time (0-5 hours/week on average) student employment opportunity, with a flexible schedule to accommodate class schedules.Work primarily involves physical tasks, including lifting and moving equipment or materials, and standing or walking for extended periods.Work may be performed in various weather conditions.The position may require occasional evening or weekend work, depending on the event schedule.Incumbents will be required to attend position training (5 hours/day) on September 19, 2024, at OSU-Cascades. Professional development and team building activities will also be implemented throughout the academic year, both on-campus and off-campus.
Compensation
This position is paid at a standard rate of $17.00/hour, up to 20 hours/week during the academic year and 40 hours/week during breaks and summer. The student employee submits a timesheet for supervisor approval on the 15th of each month and receives their paycheck on the last day of the month.
Training
Students will be required to complete OSU's online child abuse prevention and reporting, information technology security, and diversity training. Job-specific training will be provided on September 19.
