Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill sixteen part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) OSU Eco-Representative for the QCP at Oregon State University (OSU).
Oregon State University's Eco-Representatives (EcoReps) is a cohort-based student leadership development program that transforms resident students into sustainability advocates. EcoReps work with multiple departments and organizations on campus, and are responsible for advancing and institutionalizing a culture of sustainability in OSU residence facilities. Applicants must be on-campus residents of a University Housing & Dining Services (UHDS) facility.
Position DutiesWork 5-8 hours per week during fall, winter, and spring academic quarters; additional hours may be available later in the year as budget allows and workload demandsReport weekly qualitative and quantitative outreach data in an online activity logEngage with UHDS staff and Area CouncilsAssist with planning, marketing and execution of campus-wide sustainability programs such as
recycling education and assessment ,
Kilowatt Crackdown ,
Service Projects , and
Beyond Earth Day , among othersUtilize multiple tactics in marketing and outreach efforts, including virtual event planning, distributing fliers and posters, posting on bulletin boards and social media, face-to-face interactions with residentsAssist UHDS in educating residents on the importance of properly returning the reusable take-out food containers used in the
Eco2Go
program.Have the opportunity to coordinate hall compost program by recruiting participants, emptying and cleaning compost bins, weighing and tracking dataAttend weekly meetings with other Eco-Reps, and monthly meetings with Resident Director.Minimum Qualifications

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of studyMust meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employmentMust meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling programUndergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per termUndergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per termGraduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the
Office of International Services
(OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
Residence in a UHDS facility on the Corvallis campusOrganized, detail oriented, and able to work with minimal supervisionStrong verbal and written communication skillsWillingness to handle compostable and recyclable materials, and be able to lift 25 lbs.Access to social media and basic proficiency using itComfort approaching new people and interacting with large and small groups.Preferred (Special) Qualifications
A passion for and interest in sustainabilityExperience working with diverse stakeholder groupsExperience with advertising, marketing, or outreach for projects or organizationsEvent planning experienceAbility to offer positive mentorship, motivation and inspiration for othersFederal work-study

Applicants must be on-campus residents of a University Housing & Dining Services (UHDS) facility.
