Director of Construction Operations : Excavation, Underground & EquipmentOur Nashville based client is interviewing for a Director of Construction Operations, in the Nashville area.This person will drive the growth and expansion of the Excavation & Septic tank divisions and horizontal site operations for the company.This role will effectively manage overall aspects of the company operations and be instrumental in all aspects of the company’s success & growth.The position requires strong & decisive leadership skills, experience with managing equipment & maintenance, construction excavation/site-work teams and all projects in current operations.The candidates’ knowledge of heavy equipment, customer service, client development/retention as well as a deeply ingrained sense of urgency will be critical to this role.Responsibilities:Supervise and lead a team of field personnel, ensuring productivity, adherence to safety protocols, and high-quality workmanshipSupervise development efforts to keep project within design, budget and schedule expectationsDevelop and maintain customer and vendor relationshipsIdentify and call on prospective customers to drive sales growthProblem-solve on the fly with crews as issues ariseCoordinate with equipment rental companies as neededAdditional Responsibilities:Coordinate and schedule equipment repairs to minimize machine downtimeMaintain materials inventory and order additional parts as neededRecruit and hire personnel alongside crew leadsPrepare estimates for prospective project with review of specifications, drawings, and takeoff informationNegotiate change orders when neededEnsure quick and accurate billing alongside the shared finance teamPath to Success:Strong Experience with construction sitework, underground and septic (STEP) systemsOwnership with outcomes both good and bad, ownership in team performanceResourcefulness in solving operational and organizational problemsSense of urgency to address customer complaints, provide project bids, and drive completion of projectsStrong relationship-building skills in business development effortsRequirements:Proven experience (5+ years) in a leadership role within the excavation or construction industryOperations Manager (or similar) experience in managing internal staff, P&L, budget and cost control, etc.Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environmentProficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite and Google DocsExcellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skillsValid driver’s license and reliable transportationStrong understanding of excavation techniques, equipment, and safety standards (preferred)Compensation Overview:Bonus:
