Duties

As a Health Communications Specialist (Bilingual-Spanish) you will:

Provide language translation of scientific materials and findings ensuring that the translations developed are both technically and linguistically appropriate for the Spanish language.

Maintain timelines and monitors project quality.

Plan, apply, and evaluate various communication science and marketing techniques to achieve optimal program results and promote positive health outcomes.

Coordinate and conduct activities related to long- and short-range planning; program and project development, implementation and evaluation; audience research; and translation and dissemination of scientific information to audiences in a variety of formats.

Develop messages and materials that are valid and consistent with program objectives and are based on communication and marketing theory and principles as well as audience research (including concept, message, and Web-usability testing).

US Citizenship required.

Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.

May be subject to a Background/Security Investigation.

CDC participates in the USCIS Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Direct deposit is required.

One-year probationary period may be required.

This position may be subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Time in grade (TIG) must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

This position may be subject to the OGE Financial Disclosure requirements of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978.

This position may require a Drug Test and be subject to Random Drug Testing.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience:

developing and implementing national communication and marketing programs, projects and/or initiatives; developing content on digital platforms; and translating scientific materials and findings in English and Spanish.

In addition to meeting the above Minimum qualification requirements, applicants must be able to be fluent in Spanish (i.e., oral and written communications).

Education

Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience.
