Duties
As a Supervisory Security Specialist you will:
Directs the agency-wide physical and personnel security activities.
Incumbent must have law enforcement training in order to assure that these select agents are safe from sabotage and other forms of attack.
Responsible for employment suitability and security adjudication and processing for the CDC/ATSDR workforce.
Performs decision-making and policy development responsibilities for all CDC/ATSDR physical and personnel security activities.
Reviews proposed regulations, policies, and procedures relating to physical and personnel security areas; identifies and evaluates impact on the mission, policies and objectives.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate supervisors. Advises staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher-level management or headquarters.
Requirements
US Citizenship required.
Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
May be subject to a Background/Security Investigation. Security clearance level may differ from the position announced when certificates are shared.
CDC participates in the USCIS Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
Direct deposit is required.
One-year probationary period may be required.
Wear and prominent display of the CDC identification badge is mandatory during tours of duty.
This position may be subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Time in grade (TIG) must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Candidates must have demonstrated or shown the potential to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. A supervisory probationary period may be required.
This position may be subject to the OGE Financial Disclosure requirements of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978.
This position may require a Drug Test and be subject to Random Drug Testing.
Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which must include the following experience: experience developing, coordinating, directing and assessing nation-wide physical security programs and laboratory security programs as it relates to public health; developing strategies and procedures relating to personnel security and physical security procedures and experience directing, coordinating and overseeing work.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience.
