As part of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, the mission of AES is to find solutions to current problems, as well as opportunities for tomorrow. The new knowledge created from our research enhances the quality of life in South Dakota through the beneficial use and development of human, economic and natural resources. Our research mission is one of the cornerstones of a land grant university. In addition to enhancing the quality of life in our state, our research directly supports the teaching programs offered by the
College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences , the
College of Education and Human Sciences
the
College of Natural Sciences
and the educational program delivered by
SDSU Extension .

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Facilitate the acquisition of external funding to support research, projects, and initiatives within the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences and the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station.Identify competitive funding opportunities and assist faculty and staff in developing strong grant applications.Manage the entire grant application process, ensuring compliance with all grant requirements.Enhance the College and Experiment Station's capacity for impactful research and innovation through effective communication, collaboration, and strategic planning.Advance the institution's education, outreach, and service missions in the agriculture sector.Manage the RFP process for several commodity groups nationally and within South Dakota, including RFP development, proposal acceptance, and arrangement of the review and funding process.Utilize network connections, experience, and expertise in grantsmanship to expand the research portfolio beyond the faculty's identified areas.Provide specialized knowledge, resources, and support to complement faculty efforts, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the grant-seeking process.Build and manage a high-performing grant writing team to support the College and Experiment Station's research objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in relevant field completed by first day of employment;5 years of experience in grantsmanship;Relevant work experience in university research administration;Familiarity with federal and state regulations regarding research grants and contracts;Experience in developing grant proposals and supporting documentation/forms;Experience in developing and facilitating large multidisciplinary proposals; andAbility to create a tracking and monitoring system that expands RFP identification beyond what faculty currently submit.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience leading or managing teams.Demonstrated ability to create databases or digital solutions associated with application processes.
