Job Description:A life client is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to serve as the principal executive officer of the association. Appointed by the board of directors, the CEO is responsible for providing guidance to the board within the framework of the bylaws, as well as executing the overall strategic principle of sustained managed growth. This role entails comprehensive leadership for all facets of the association’s operations, with a strong emphasis on strategic direction. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the executive team to drive growth, enhance profitability and establish a decisive advantage within the fraternal marketplace. The CEO is central to guiding the organization toward its long-term objectives while upholding its core values and mission. This is a retained search.
Responsibilities:Define and implement the strategic direction of the organization, including the creation and implementation of the strategic plan and business plan.Identify and execute growth opportunities, develop and implement frameworks for action plans, and execute them through functional leadership.Provide direction and leadership to corporate functional departments, including operations, finance, human resources (HR), sales, information technology, compliance, fraternal and communications.Oversee programs that provide membership, financial security and community services in line with the association’s mission and bylaws.Guide HR activities, including planning, selection, supervision and evaluation of employees.Lead negotiations for mergers and strategic partnerships.Oversee product development strategy and lifecycle.Manage investment functions and relationships with external advisors.Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the insurance industry, as well as trends and practices of the fraternal benefit society industry.Cultivate and maintain relationships with the board of directors, key constituencies, professional groups and regulatory bodies.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree (preferred)10+ years of related work experience with increasing authority5+ years of executive-level management experience in the fields of fraternal, non-profit, insurance, management or businessDemonstrated knowledge of the fraternal benefit system and the associationIn-depth knowledge of insurance, annuities and investment managementExpertise in overall product development within the life insurance and annuities spaceProven expertise in developing profitable strategies and implementing visionIn-depth knowledge of corporate governance and executive management practicesBoard experience (preferred)
