See the Benefits home page for more information.Position Summary:The Department of Special Education seeks to hire temporary part-time faculty to teach in Special Education. The Department is committed to addressing significant educational issues for individuals with disabilities. We aim to increase the number of highly qualified and fully credentialed special education professionals providing services to children and adults with disabilities throughout New Mexico.Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment, course offerings, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates selected for these positions will report to the Special Education Department Chair.Qualified candidates from all underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply. Applicants are encouraged to indicate which semester they prefer to teach. These positions will remain open until filled.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Master’s in special education or a closely related fieldMinimum three years of experience working with individuals with disabilitiesPreferred Qualifications:Doctoral or scholarly work in an area relevant to the course.Demonstrated excellence in teaching PreK-12.Demonstrated excellence in teaching adult learners.Robust formal academic preparation in working with individuals with disabilities from historically marginalized communities in inclusive settings.Extensive experience working with individuals with a wide range of special education needs from historically marginalized communities in inclusive settings.A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Application Instructions:Only applications submitted through the official UNMJobs site will be accepted.
