Location: Minneapolis, MinnesotaJob ID: 362389Job Family: AdvancementFull/Part Time: Full-TimeRegular/Temporary: RegularJob Code: 9703AREmployee Class: Acad Prof and AdminAbout the JobThe Director of Events plans and executes meaningful experiences that enhance alumni and friends' engagement and sense of belonging with the University of Minnesota. This role manages UMAA's signature events and builds strong relationships across campus to advance the UMAA and the University.Essential Functions:Plan and execute signature events for the Alumni Association.Manage all aspects of UMAA signature events, including Ski-U-Mania, Alumni Awards Affair, and Homecoming.Establish and execute project plans for event logistics.Provide on-site leadership for events, including setup, cleanup, and coordination with vendors.Coordinate involvement of UMAA and University senior leaders at events.Prepare briefing materials and train staff and volunteers.Advance equity and diversity through inclusive event practices.Collaborate with the Communications Team for event communications.Monitor budgets and manage vendor relationships.Track alumni engagement in the University's Donor Management System.Conduct program evaluations and market research.Manage the Alumni Awards program.Grow UMAA membership and philanthropic giving through events.Maintain an inventory of event supplies.Stay updated on event trends and best practices.Serve as the staff expert for the Encompass Events Module.Liaise with the University's All-Honors Committee for the Distinguished Teaching Awards event.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree plus at least four years of professional experience, including at least three years of event planning experience.
