02264137Job SummaryThe School of Nursing Retention Specialist (General Learning Specialist) is responsible for overseeing retention efforts for students, focusing specifically on academic success and support, through coordinating academic enrichment programming to all undergraduate nursing students. This is done through targeted outreach for at-risk students, academic support services, assessment, referral, and follow-up. The retention specialist is an integral part of the Student Affairs Team and serves as a resource to faculty, staff, and students.Key Responsibilities:Meet with students individually and in small groups to provide assistance and guidance on various academic skills topics including: the study cycle, metacognitive learning strategies, time management, study plans and other topics as necessary (with a focus on students struggling academically)Monitor, plan and facilitate services and program offerings working closely with Academic Success Coordinator and InstructorsConduct targeted outreach campaigns to at-risk students working closely with Academic Success Coordinator and Academic Advisors to identify students earlyFacilitate workshops on active reading strategies, notetaking, exam preparation, test-taking language, test anxiety and other topics as necessaryFacilitate one-on-one and small group academic skills coaching and workshops for students who are struggling academically, who have been placed on academic probation, or are looking to improve their academic performanceMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s DegreePrior experience working with studentsPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Education or other directly related fieldExperience in higher educationExperience working with high school or college students on academic skillsExperience creating and facilitating presentationsApplication InstructionsInterested applicants are required to apply online and provide:A cover letter addressing your education/experience as it applies to all minimum and preferred qualificationsA resume or curriculum vitaA document listing the names and contact information for three professional references.
